The Register Citizen’s Community Journalism School was launched in December 2010 with a mission of training and empowering citizen journalists and bloggers in Northwest Connecticut, providing professional development in journalism and technology to full-time editors and reporters, helping small businesspeople adapt to how communication technology has changed marketing, and to expose local college and high school students to these topics.
All programs are free.

I was just wondering if the classes might happen to be available to those in other areas via webcam.
Absolutely! We are setting our classroom up with video conferencing so that this can happen. We plan to both offer classes that happen live in Torrington to the rest of Journal Register Company and anyone else who wants to take advantage, and to take advantage of the expertise in other parts of the country and world by having instructors and lecturers Skype in from elsewhere to work with a live audience in Torrington.

Are you no longer having classes? It shows the last one as being in the beginning of November.
Dan,
We are beginning to set up a class schedule for the spring. Because of the uncertainty of winter weather, we chose to hold off on classes during the winter months.
If you have specific ideas for classes, we’d love to hear them. Email ideas to editor@registercitizen.com.
Thanks for your interest!
